The rapid growth and availability of community solar projects in the Mid-Atlantic region and across the country is an exciting development for the production of solar and renewable energy. While much time and energy is spent exploring regulatory and utility issues, the subscriber experience is often an afterthought. Poor communication, lack of program knowledge, and confusion leads to slower adoption rates, customer complaints and increased churn on the part of consumers and businesses. Improved education and communication at three key points - explanation of the program, enrollment, and billing - will improve the overall customer experience, fewer complaints and less churn.
