Baltimore, Maryland, United States
Tyler Wakefield is the Co-Founder and Associate Executive Director of the Energy Policy Design Institute (EPDI), a non-profit dedicated to accelerating the energy transition by offering design-thinking tools for better, faster policymaking. As a systems designer and collaboration facilitator, Tyler designs tools and processes that allow for clearer thinking, communication, and coordination among diverse stakeholders in increasingly complex energy policy design challenges.
Tyler brings to EPDI comprehensive experience in energy policy legislative and regulatory processes, market development, and complex systems design from a career spent engaging with energy and economic systems transformation from diverse perspectives and contexts. From researching energy access programs in several countries; to helping energy storage pioneer Stem establish new markets and use cases across the U.S.; to leading a community-based climate policy organization; to facilitating the decentralized design and implementation of Web3 tools for community-based governance and finance, Tyler has carefully studied how policy design and collaborative processes can make or break systems in an age of rapid transformation. Tyler graduated with a B.A. in public policy from Duke University, where his academic work focused on the nexus of energy policy, economics, technological innovation, and socio-environmental impact.
