Location: Energy Transition Theater, Expo Hall, Hall F
The rapid adoption of DC (direct current) bussed or coupled microgrids has faced several challenges despite their potential advantages. Some reasons for the slow adoption include: Perception and Familiarity of DC systems, Standardization and Compatibility, Limited awareness of DC compatible devices, and Economic Factors related to high upfront engineering time and costs. This presentation will review two new vanguard microgrid device and system standards being released by the EMerge Alliance and a new complimentary microgrid automated open public access configuration tool developed by DEP that will help meet these challenges and accelerate the adoption and use of DC and Hybrid AC/DC microgrid architecture at the grid edge.
